Outreach & Education

Summer 2022

Our lab provides training for K-12 teachers to familiarize them with the human-computer interaction area and its applications in transportation and assistive technologies. These activities include (1) demonstration of the high-fidelity driving simulator and training on creating simple scenarios using graphical user interface and Java; (2) data collection and analysis of physiological data using wearable devices including eye-tracking glasses, HR monitors, and EMG sensors; and (3) introduction to cognitive modeling and its application in software usability evaluation using open-source software packages such as R and Cogulator.

Fall 2021

We gave demos to high school students to become familiar with the human-systems engineering area and its applications in transportation and assistive technologies. The students learned how to use eye-tracking glasses to capture eye movements and measured their heart rate and EMG signals using wearable devices.

Spring 2020

We conducted a lab tour as part of Aggieland Saturday event to familiarize middle school and high school students with industrial and systems engineering, human-systems engineering area, and applications of  driving simulations and physiological measures in human factors research.

Fall 2019

We conducted lab tours to familiarize undergraduate engineering students and high school students with applications of driving simulations and physiological measures in human factors research and education. The students learned how to use eye-tracking glasses to capture eye movements and drove in a simulated environment!
